The development of this area began in 2018 after an agreement was reached between Erajaya Group and the Environmental and Forestry Training Center (BPLHK) of the KLHK to rehabilitate a forest area of 6 hectares. The handover event, titled 'Wana Erajaya Green Legacy,' was attended by Keith Ardy Hady Wijaya, Director of Erajaya Group, Jimmy Perangin Angin, Chief Human Capital, Legal, GA, and CSR of Erajaya Group, along with Drs. Jimmy Perangin Angin, as the Chief Human Capital, Legal, GA, and CSR of Erajaya Group, said, “Over the past 5 years, we have developed the Wana Erajaya Area as a manifestation of our commitment to contribute to the environment and empower the surrounding community. The programs we run not limited to tree planting but also a maximum effort to utilize the land and forest area to explore the local economic potential for the surrounding community. Although this area has been officially handed over to KLHK, Erajaya will continue to make sustained efforts to develop and nurture so that the economic activities of SMEs in the Wana Erajaya Area remain optimal.”
“We express our gratitude to Erajaya Group, which has collaborated with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through BPLHK for 5 years since 2018 in a joint effort to contribute to the rehabilitation of the training forest area and also empower the surrounding community to participate in maintaining and caring for the growth of plants. The community can benefit from the presence of this forest. Wana Erajaya Forest, hopefully in the future, can provide even greater benefits along with the growth in the coming decades,” said Dr. Ir. Kusdamayanti, M.Si, as the Head of the Human Resources Training Center at LHK.
During the development process of the Wana Erajaya area, Erajaya Group together with BPLHK, has carried out phased tree planting from 2018 to 2020 and ongoing maintenance. A total of 6,368 trees have been planted in the area, with various species such as mahogany, agathis, jenitri, and others. This tree planting has the potential to produce 1,833.47 tons of oxygen per year and reduce at least 16,385.36 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
In addition to tree planting, Erajaya Group also focuses on empowering the surrounding community to improve the local economy. This is implemented through programs such as Wanatani, where approximately 60% of the land is used to cultivate various crops such as vegetables, fruits, grass for livestock, raw materials for essential oils, and others.
At present, there are five community groups involved in various types of production such as agroforestry, honey, essential oils, oyster mushrooms, and bamboo crafts. Erajaya Group provides assistance in terms of training, capital, equipment, and support in the development of post-harvest production with the aim of producing products with higher economic value. To date, around 120 families in the Rumpin area have actively participated in micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and have also contributed to caring for plants in Wana Erajaya.
The "Wana Erajaya Green Legacy" event was enlivened by the presence of more than 200 employees, along with the Directors of Erajaya Group, representatives from BPLHK, and the general public around the Rumpin area. All participants present could join in various activities such as activities with farmer groups, eco-enzyme spraying, eco-printing, MSME bazaar, camping, wildlife release, and the handover of Wana Erajaya.
