Jakarta, 30 November 2021 – Since 2018, LENTERA Erajaya Peduli has collaborated with the Environment and Forestry Education and Training Center in implementing a forest area rehabilitation program in Rumpin covering an area of 6 hectares called "Wana Erajaya". Tree planting, including Trembesi, Damar, Mahogany, and productive fruit species, has been carried out in 3 phases from 2018 to 2020, with a total of 6,386 trees planted. In addition, one of the innovations in this program is the utilization of organic waste from forest areas and smallholder households to be used as eco-enzymes and organic, liquid & solid fertilizers.
This program is part of one of LENTERA's pillars, namely: Lentera Hijau. Through this program, the long-term impact given is not only planting trees for carbon reduction and becoming green lungs in the Rumpin area, Bogor Regency, but at the same time increasing the productivity of intercropping/agroforestry for farmer groups and education on “organic concepts” to support sustainable forest area.
Jimmy Perangin Angin, Chief Human Capital, Legal dan CSR said, "Erajaya Group's commitment which is channeled through the LENTERA Erajaya Peduli social awareness program is re-realized with the 'Wana Erajaya' forest rehabilitation program in Bogor and the use of organic waste used for agro-forestry activities by local residents. In our 4th year running this program, we reaffirm our intention to be involved in the long term in providing a sustainable positive impact on the environment and society.”
Eco-enzyme is a solution of complex organic substances from the fermentation of organic waste, sugar, and water. Different from ordinary liquid organic fertilizers, the eco-enzyme fermentation process is relatively longer and uses organic materials that have not decomposed. The results of this organic waste utilization will later become organic "nutrients" for developing forest areas and indirectly reduce the use of chemical fertilizers/pesticides in forest care and intercropping/agroforestry activities in Wana Erajaya.
