Semarang, 11 August 2022 – Erajaya Group announced the first production of feature phones in collaboration with Nokia. The phone is manufactured in a manufacturing facility located in the Candi Industrial Estate, Semarang, Central Java, which is owned by PT Bangga Teknologi Indonesia. The inauguration of this inaugural production was marked by a ceremonial event attended by Mr Ali Murtopo Simbolon, Director of IET (Directorate of Electronics and Telematics Industry) of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as representatives from Erajaya Group management and HMD Indonesia, as the licensee of the Nokia brand.
Hasan Aula, Deputy CEO Erajaya Group, said “It is a great honour for us to be able to announce the first production of mobile phones as a result of the collaboration between Erajaya Group and HMD Indonesia, as Nokia's licensee. This is a tangible form and manifestation of our support for the Government's efforts to increase domestic production and encourage people to use domestic products more than imported products. We are also honoured to be able to work with HMD Indonesia at a higher level of collaboration in presenting cellphones made by Indonesian children. We hope that this initiative can have a positive impact on the wider community, especially in Semarang.”
This collaboration is expected to help create jobs for the surrounding community and also help alleviate poverty and improve education. In addition, the presence of a strategic project like this will also facilitate the transfer of practical and effective technology, which in turn is expected to have a positive impact on the development of the mobile phone industry in Indonesia.
The Nokia feature phone from Erajaya Group will be available in Erajaya Group's retail network in the near future.
