Jakarta, March 15th, 2024 - Erajaya Group reaffirms its commitment and strengthens its strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemenbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia in the development of vocational education, a partnership established since 2019. In the first quarter of 2024, Erajaya Group, in collaboration with Kemenbudristek, introduces a series of programs aimed at implementing and linking the vocational world with Erajaya Group's business and operational practices. These programs include the Vocapreneur Competition, Guru Merdeka Mengajar, and Erajaya Exploration & Collaboration in Education and Learning (EXCEL), with a focus on reaching the Bali area.
Jimmy Perangin Angin, in his capacity as Chief Human Capital, Legal, GA, and CSR of Erajaya Group, stated, "As our company evolves, we are committed to implementing positive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. One of our focuses is on enhancing the quality of vocational education. We see this as a significant opportunity to support sustainable development, particularly through curriculum alignment, teacher certification, fieldwork practices, and other aspects relevant to industry needs. This initiative will also cultivate skilled human resources ready to work in the retail industry, thus helping meet Erajaya's workforce needs, especially in regional areas."
The vocational partnership programs conducted by Erajaya Group in collaboration with Kemendikbudristek in the first quarter of 2024 include:
- Vocapreneur Competition:
A business idea competition for Vocational High Schools (SMK) and Vocational Colleges (PTV) with the theme "Creating Innovative and Sustainable Businesses in the Digital Era." Twenty-five teams from various school regions such as Bali, Palembang, Riau, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Sumedang participated. Through a series of internal-external jury selections, three winners from SMK and three winners from PTV were selected. For example, one winner from Jember State Polytechnic created an innovation: a portable electric drum using a simple keyboard module that can be connected to a smartphone or PC as a sound source. The innovation and agility embedded in this product are considered an affordable option for beginners to learn drumming.
- Guru Merdeka Mengajar:
An internship program facilitating SMK teachers to directly learn Erajaya Group's retail business practices, guided by Erajaya's internal training team. Twenty-two teachers from Jabodetabek, Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bali will receive extensive training at Erafone stores, focusing on topics such as service excellence. The aim is for teachers to convey direct lessons and insights regarding retail practices to their students, making the teaching-learning process more adaptive and relevant.
- Erajaya Exploration & Collaboration in Education and Learning (EXCEL):
A collaboration program with vocational education institutions at the provincial and regional levels aimed at creating synergy between educational needs and workforce demands. In the first quarter, the EXCEL program was conducted in Bali province, with nearly 400 participants engaged in activities such as Mini Gatherings for sharing insights on business, trends, and retail business opportunities; SMK visits to introduce the Erajaya Micro Learning (EMiL) application, fieldwork practices, and Guru Merdeka Mengajar; Campus Visits bringing together students and alumni for career exploration and opportunities at Erajaya; and Hiring Corners where Erajaya provides career consultations and recruitment for SMK and PTV alumni through regular walk-in interviews.
Jimmy stated, "This series of partnership programs is our step towards reaching vocational education units at the provincial and city levels more aggressively, starting with Bali province, to ensure the alignment of vocational curricula with the needs of the retail industry. We hope that the implementation of these programs can provide a platform for educators and students to learn the best practices related to the skills needed in today's job market."
This vocational partnership program is part of the Erajaya Peduli Lantern initiative, a corporate responsibility platform with four main pillars: Lentera Sehat, Lentera Cerdas, Lentera Hijau, and Lentera Kasih. In the context of Lentera Cerdas, Erajaya Group supports the development of vocational education in various regions of Indonesia in collaboration with Kemendikbudristek. To date, this partnership program has certified over 300 teachers, with more than 6,000 accessing learning modules via the EMiL application, and collaboration with 79 SMK and PTV in more than 14 provinces in Indonesia.
